With the introduction
of the db101 Rogers redefines both the aesthetics and performance envelope attainable
from a compact speaker. Drawing on the expertise of the automobile industry, the
injection moulded ABS cabinet profile offers maximum rigidity with minimum mass.
Cabinet rigidity is further increased by the addition of bonded aluminium sides. The
cabinet profile ensures that all internal standing waves are minimised thus resulting
in both a cleaner and more dynamic presentation. The high cabinet rigidity combined
with low mass confirms that spatial location of detail is reproduced at the highest
level. Two unique drivers deliver a high sensitivity performance that belie
the db101's diminutive dimensions. The fully shielded 110mm woofer is built in
a rigid polymer chassis and utilises a unique lightweight HDA diaphragm. Driven
by an edgewound voice coil on a kapton former, the woofer exhibits excellent transient
performance required for truly realistic music reproduction. The performance of
the tweeter is matched to the woofer by the use of a low mass polymer diaphragm
driven by a lightweight formerless voice coil. Extending well beyond 20kHz the
'floating' tweeter is Ferrofluid cooled and dampened for excellent transient response
and high frequency performance. The acoustically suspended tweeter 'floats' in
the middle of the bass reflex port. This unique design optimises the full range
directionality and superb driver integration of the db101. |
